Simon serves as President and Founder of Hardent and oversees general management of the electronic design services. Simon completed a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master's degree in Bio-Medical Microelectronics at the École Polytechnique of Montreal. Prior to founding Hardent in 2002, Simon gained broad engineering and management experience while working in challenging senior positions at PMC-Sierra, Ciena and various electronics equipment vendors. Simon’s vast experience allows him to lead Hardent with a specialization in ASIC design, FPGA design and many electronic product development processes.
Since 2002, Hardent’s electronic product development has expanded under the leadership of Simon to service a wide range of electronic design service industries. Simon’s philosophy goes above and beyond the need for quality, enforcing smooth communication with clients and high project visibility so that clients feel that Hardent is a natural extension of their engineering team. Simon is currently brushing up on his management skills by following an executive education program at Harvard Business School.
As CFO, Pierre brings expertise on Hardent's financial strategy and more than 35 years of experience in finance and administration. Previously, he held senior positions in finance within two public companies involved in manufacturing, distribution and services. He also has experience in the private equity and venture capital financing with Caisse de dépot et placement du Québec. He worked in the banking industry with TD Bank and Bank of Montreal. He has been a board member of more than ten companies located in Canada and in the US. Pierre holds an MBA from Université de Sherbrooke and he has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He is a member of the Ordre des CGA du Québec.
Stéphane is responsible for Hardent's operations, including project and resource management. He maintains high standards for customer service and ensures solutions are delivered to market in a timely manner. Stéphane holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master's in Bio-Medical Microelectronics at the Ecole Polytechnique de Montréal. He has a diversified background in ASIC and FPGA design and has worked extensively in signal and power integrity. In addition, Stéphane has extensive hands-on experience in the fields of medical electronics, computer graphics and embedded systems. He constantly works to improve processes, methodologies and collaborative procedures in order to increase Hardent's efficiency.
As the Chief Technology Officer, Avrum is responsible for technical excellence at Hardent. He works to ensure that Hardent is always using the latest technology, researching and analyzing new techniques in electronic product development. Avrum brings almost 20 years of experience in the architecture, design, and implementation of complex SoC, ASIC and FPGA systems to the company. He graduated with a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from McGill University, and has gained extensive experience in consumer electronics and telecommunications systems at several high-tech companies, including Hewlett-Packard and Agilent Technologies.
Michel is VP of Hardent's Sales and Business Development. Michel is responsible for managing pre- and post-sale customer engagements across North America and worldwide. Michel also develops partnerships and alliances with vendors and associations that facilitate the electronic design services given to Hardent clients. Michel has vast experience in the electronics industry. Over the course of his career, he has held a variety of senior account manager and business development roles with electronics companies representing leading manufacturers such as Texas Instruments, Toshiba and Xilinx.
Gil has over fifteen years of experience as a senior marketing executive in the technology and manufacturing industries. Gil plays a central role in setting Hardent's market strategy, raising market awareness, defining effective lead generation campaigns while facilitating communication with prospective clients. Gil also verifies the company's client satisfaction and suggests ways to improve service. He has built good working relationships with top officers of large corporations worldwide such as Ericsson, IBM, Alcatel, Texas Instrument, Microsoft, AT&T and Toyota.
Gil is a frequent speaker in conferences, associations and international events, including the McGill International Executive Institute. Gil is currently the president and founder of Direct Objective Consulting, a marketing agency that specializes in strategic marketing, incoming lead generation campaigns and international development. Gil holds an MBA in marketing. He also holds Bachelor's degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science and Psychology. Early in his career, he practiced as a software design engineer, mostly in assembly language. His experience in software design enables Gil to understand market technology trends and respond quickly to fulfill client needs.
Sylvie has a key role in the supervision of all of Hardent's finance, accounting and human resources activities. A graduate of the Université du Québec a Montréal, she has been a member of the Certified Management Accountants (CMA) since 1996 and has contributed to the implementation of procedures and methodologies in the company. Sylvie believes that creating a fruitful working environment is crucial to the productivity of the company's employees. Sylvie is always working to ensure that the needs of employees are addressed, which brings a positive impact on teamwork and company morale. Prior to joining Hardent, Sylvie held accounting management positions at high profile companies such as Gaz Métropolitain, Borden Foods and Ivaco.
