Hardent’s VESA VDC-M IP products support VESA’s newest display compression standard and are designed to accelerate the development of SoCs for next-generation mobiles, tablets, AR/VR products, and automotive displays requiring increased levels of video compression.
VDC-M (VESA Display Compression-M) was developed by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA), in collaboration with the MIPI Alliance. It was released in May 2018 and is the third compression codec by VESA.
VDC-M Highlights
- Compression levels down to 6 bits per pixel (bpp) and lower
- Visually lossless picture quality for all content
- Reduces power, weight, and system costs
- Ultra-low latency performance
- Compatible with the new MIPI DSI-2 v1.1 specification
Why Use Hardent’s VDC-M IP?
VDC-M is a highly sophisticated video compression algorithm, and our VDC-M IP cores are designed to support designers with a ready-made solution to quickly adopt the standard in their next SoC design. As a leading provider of VESA DSC IP cores since 2014, and active contributor to the VDC-M Task Group, we have leveraged our expertise to design a quality IP solution that will enable the semiconductor industry to accelerate the adoption of VESA’s latest video compression standard with significantly lower risk.
